The Problem: Earwax

  • Earwax is naturally produced by the body to protect the ear canal from debris and germs
  • Excessive earwax can cause hearing loss, pain and infection
  • Current methods to clean the ears are messy, ineffective and dangerous, and can cause permanent hearing loss, ear pain and infection
  • Q tips, Wax Vac, ear candling and ear flushing all have significant disadvantages
  • Standard irrigation and suction devices are expensive, impractical and difficult to operate

Earwax is a naturally-occurring bodily substance that is actually pretty useful — in small amounts. It serves as a natural cleanser and tests have shown it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. But for many people, earwax is too much of a good thing. An ear canal plugged up with earwax can cause earaches, infections, and other problems.

New guidelines from the American Academy of Otolaryngology stress a let-it-be attitude and warn against removal unless the earwax is causing a problem. Many people take a do-it-yourself approach. But please do not try to remove the wax with a cotton swab, which tends to push the earwax back into the ear. A clinician tackles an earwax problem with more expertise, a better view, and better tools.

CleanEar is a handheld battery-operated irrigation and suction device to gently, safely and effectively clean earwax from the ear canal. It’s easy to assemble and a cinch to operate for both children and adults.

CleanEar sprays water in a halo pattern from the nozzle tip to safely loosen earwax from the ear canal and avoid direct contact with the eardrum. A central suction tube gently removes the earwax. It comes with a rechargeable battery docking station as well as soft safety tips to fit both children and adults.

A cycling safety feature with simultaneous irrigation and suction to prevent overfilling of the ear canal and damage to the eardrum are all precautions we’ve made. CleanEar Device offers a billable office procedure to generate practice revenue for the health care provider.

Canine

You’ve heard from us all about caring for your ears… But what about your furry friends’? Most dogs suffer from ear infections at some point in their lives, especially floppy-eared dogs. If you notice your pet scratching or rubbing their ears and shaking their head, especially if you smell a strange odor, this may indicate an ear infection. Untreated infections can lead to hearing loss in your dog.

The way to prevent this is to keep your dogs’ ears clean. Fluid, yeast and bacteria can become trapped in a dog’s ears, especially after bathing or swimming. The CleanEar device, now designed also for dogs, is a safe an effective way to remove moisture and debris from your pets’ ears. This solution is more convenient and cost-effective than frequent trips to the vet’s office.

Remember, if you suspect hearing loss in your pet, or if their symptoms of ear infection are not resolved after using the CleanEar device, a vet appointment is essential to preserving your dog’s health.

Secondly, I strive to enhance the patient’s facial features by taking the focus off of the nose and on to the eyes by creating a natural-looking nose with sensitivity to the patient’s ethnicity and gender. My goal is that following surgery and recovery, no one but you will even know you’ve had nasal surgery!” Dr. Perry states.
